Idio Clips
Here's an opportunity to see some of my animation in the cinema.
Seems Tripod are reviving their Comedy Festival show Idio Clips. Idio Clips features TWO of my animated music videos "King Of The Video Arcade" and "I Hate Your Family".

Letter from Channel Thirty-One
I recieved this nice letter the other day:

August 6th, 2007
Dear Leigh,
Thankyou for your recent submission to the
C31 digital License campaign animation.
We had many excellent entries and
were extremely impressed and honoured with the time and effort that was put in.
We short listed a final four designs, and then chose the entry that we felt
best encapsulated the 'vibe' we are trying to achieve.
While we did not
select your entry as the final design, it did impress the judges enough to make
the final 4.
We have included two movie passes as congratulations and thanks
for your efforts.

Channel Thirty-One Station IDs
While I'm still patiently waiting for news about what entries won the C31 animation competition, you can view my entries.
I have so far seen The Garden Of Eden, The Human Experiment, The Victim's Necklace and The Perfect Touch in between shows on C31. I haven't seen The Dawn Of Man yet. Let me know if you see it...
You have to be patient and watch some C31 shows (there are some good ones), but sure enough, my station IDs are there on rotation amongst others.
So get watching and see Leigh on TV!

Australians Talk Back
Australians Talk Back is the name of my political election ad.
It is my entry in GetUp's Oz in 30 Seconds competition to create, rate and air television ads that promote a better, fairer, more progressive Australia.

Shock-jock Eric Anger regularly incites fear and hatred on his national
talk-radio show The Angry Hour. Due to the untimely demise of his assistant, he
finally gets his comeuppance from the real talkback callers of Australia who
demand a fairer Australia for everybody.

The competition winner will air on national prime time television during the lead up to the federal election.

C31 Human Touch Animation Competition
I have produced a series of entries for Channel 31's animation competition.
They are 10 second station IDs which are interpretive pieces based on the C31 logo, the theme being "human touch".
Apart from cash prizes, C31 will select extra entries which will run for approximately six months on air, on a rotational basis.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Nick McDougall and Manic Bunny Film for winning Tripod's Idio Clips competition with their entry for Krap Karate.

The winner was announced at Friday night's final Idio Clips show for the 2007 Comedy Festival.
My entry King Of The Video Arcade was one of three honourable mentions, with the Tripod guys saying that their decision was a very, very close call.

My thanks go to Tripod for doing such a beautiful job of presenting the films, singing live, accompanying the videos and being funny! Thanks also to the technical crew, Clem in particular.
Thanks to all the other entrants for making some very funny films for Tripod's songs. The season was so successful that Tripod may hold the competition again next year.

Tripod Idio Clips
My two videos were seleced for inclusion in Tripod's Idio Clips show for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Their show is a collection of videos that people made to accompany their songs. They play and sing live synching up to the videos on the bigscreen.
Two of the show's highlights are "I Hate Your Family" and "King of the Video Arcade" drawn and animated by me.
I attended the show last Friday night and it was exciting to see the fruits of my labour being enjoyed by an audience as they were intended.
If you're in Melbourne during April, you can go to the show at Trades Hall at 11.45pm on Friday nights during the festival (that's April 6, 13, 20, 27)

New Animations
I wanted to display the new animations on the blog, but couldn't make it happen.
Instead they're viewable if you go to my profile and view my pictures.
Not only can you see Axeman, but also Twitch, Donkey, Lavalamp, Rhinoman, Cool Dolphin, Bearded Freefall and Tough Nut.
